About Dr. Ishiguro
Dr Shu Ishiguro is an independent researcher and business development consultant based in Tokyo, Japan. Dr Ishiguro took his Ph.D. in the Department of General Systems Studies, at the prestigious University of Tokyo. His doctoral research investigated management of open network organization.
After working in R&D, Marketing and Planning for Konica Corporation for almost 20 years, Dr Ishiguro was Research Manager on the Kitano Symbiotic Systems Project, and ERATO (Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology) for the Japan Science Technology Agency. Dr Ishiguro is president of MOT Solution, Japan: a business consultancy firm specializing in business and technology consulting to venture companies, venture capitalists and service providers.
Dr Ishiguro has been tasked by the governments of Kanagawa Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, Kobe City and the government of Japan to create and promote business and industry in Next Generation Robotics, and to develop policy, sitting as a councillor on the Robot Industry Policy Committee for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and on the Robot Business Promotion Council. He is currently a director of The Japan Society for Science Policy and Research Management.
He is an avid proponent of open research networks, and served as the Chief Business Officer for The RoboCup Federation and is currently Director of the International Rescue System Institute. His research interests cover technology management, open innovation, service innovation and business development.
In 2006, Dr Ishiguro was the recipient of the “Remarkable Contribution to Science and Technology” Award from the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy.
